UPDATE: LiteracyTent coming back up

Hello everyone.

I'm happy to report that LiteracyTent has weathered the storm and is
coming back up - reinforced this time and with extra protection to
ensure that this kind of outage never happens again.

For technical reasons I won't bog you down with, it doesn't "come back
up" simultaneously for everyone - it's more of a ripple effect that
depends on your ISP's nameservers and other variables. I am now able
to access the main <http://literacytent.org> site from four different
locations and three different ISPs, so it's just a matter of time
before the name server information propagates around the world.

You can begin to use the lists again as soon as your browser is able
to load the LiteracyTent page (again, http://literacytent.org) and you
see today's date on it.

HOWEVER, I would recommend going easy on the lists for really
important traffic for another day or so, because although they do
work, they will not be able to deliver to people whose ISP's happen to
have slower nameservers, so you can't be sure that everyone on the
list will receive your mail until the changes are in effect worldwide.
There isn't any way to be certain when this has happened, but another
24 hours should see it largely done.

Please remember that you can use the list archives as well to see if
you missed any mail yourself; go to the list's home page (as listed in
your subscription notifications) and click the "Archives" link. If
you need help with this, don't hesistate to ask; be sure to tell me
what list you're trying to access.

This will be my last direct message to you all on the subject unless
something comes to light suggesting that all is not well. I will post
a story a little later on the main LiteracyTent site with information
about what happened, for those that are interested, but let's not bog
down the lists themselves with too much discussion of it if it can be
avoided.

Please accept my profound apologies, once again, for the interruption
in service. As I said, I have taken many steps to ensure that this
never happens again.

Kind regards,

Steve Linberg
