URGENT: literacytent.org temporarily down

Kind people,

I am Steve Linberg, the literacytent administrator. 

The literacytent.org domain is temporarily down.  This means that the
mailing lists are also temporarily down.  I realize that this is a
huge inconvenience, and it is due to extraordinary circumstances for
which I alone am to blame.

I am working feverishly to correct the situation, but it will be 24 to
48 hours before it is resolved.

What happened was that a "cyber-squatter" in New York attempted,
through an automated process, to hijack the literacytent.org domain
literally the second that its original one-year registration expired,
which happened yesterday (November 19).  Because this is such a new
area of human interaction, there are no laws yet governing this kind
of activity.  Sadly, there are people who make money this way -
stealing domains away from their owners and then holding them for
ransom.

The bad news is that this means that service will be interrupted.  The
good news is that the squatter who attempted to steal literacytent
forgot to dot a few i's, as it were, and I have worked to re-establish
control of the domain; according to my registrar, this process is
complete and their takeover attempt has failed.  I will be securing
the domains and taking additional steps to assure that this never
happens again.

Please accept my most profound apologies for this service
interruption.  Again, I alone am to blame for this situation.  We will
be running again very soon.

In the meanwhile, please do not mail the literacytent lists; please
wait until Wednesday at the least.  Mail sent to the lists will bounce
back to you until the changes are in place, which again typically
takes 24 to 48 hours, counting from now.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me
personally.  I will mail you again when the situation is back under
control.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.
