[NLA] Help! They Don't Speak English: New from NCLE

Okay, so you're a new adult ESL teacher. Maybe you've taught native
speakers before, maybe you've taught kids. But here you are, in
Arkansas, or Nebraska, or western Maryland; the 20+ faces that greet you
when you open the door of your classroom belong to adult learners from
Somalia, Bosnia, Mexico, Iraq, China, Vietnam ...  and it's your job to
teach them English. 

Now you know enough not to just speak louder and repeat yourself ad
nausea, but you'd like more guidance than that.

apply in ESL contexts, whether second language acquisition theory has
