NLA Discussion: LD Accomodations

Kathleen,
So says who? In my explorations of adjustments to timed-testing for a LD
student taking her GED tests I found that they would adjust it *only* by
half-time. Just the fact that there's a clock ticking in the background
rattles LD students I've found in my working with them. I've been told by a
doctor in the field that there should be NO TIMED TESTING of adults with LD.
And to *do* that add "half-time to the testing", it's been stated by our ABE
director that I must document this learner's LD. To have a psych test to
document that LD will cost this learner (with a fixed income due to her
injury on the job) a estimated cost of $250/hr. Now tell me, Kathleen, is
this fair practices?
Hee, hee ... LOL at "They are under the gun in Texas (probably a concealed
weapon, too)."
You're probably right about "concealed."

P.S.
Sorry it's taken so long to come back to you. We have ugly snowy weather here
that is causing havoc with the office schedule.
