I believe the above suggestion that you made, George, is a very viable
solution to the issue of learner leader representation on the NIFL Board.
Archie wrote another e-mail this morning to both the NLA and VALUE
listservs. It is entitled "My New Year Wishes". It listed five learner
leaders' names from across the country who in 1996 worked together to bring
VALUE to reality! So gaining recommendation made by the VALUE organization
coupled with a position statement, as you suggested, makes a lot of sense to
me. Here the leadership is! Right in front of us all -- a base of
knowledgeable leaders.
VALUE would be the best resource to approach the right leadership person(s)
regarding membership as spokesmen and spokeswomen on the NIFL Board. And
NIFL board membership wasn't even one of the two Wishes Archie made for our
New Year. Later for that one! (I felt his two goals/wishes are reachable
and realistic!)
