NLA Question: Education levels

Art,

I think you are thinking of the NAEP.  Maybe.  It showed that the spread was 
just as big as ever between reading levels, there has been no change over, 
what, 20 years?  Probably someone on the list has the information or a web 
site.  The NAEP gives all sorts of breakdowns, like city, rural, and others.  
I am always surprised that the news media gives such a cursory rundown on 
results.  With all this hoopla on testing, there is the NAEP ready to go.  
The alphabet has already been invented, folks.  (If I have to eat crow I 
will, but when I worked in a middle school this info came across my desk. )
