FOCUS ON BASICS is the quarterly newsletter of the National Center for
the Study of Adult Learning and Literacy. It includes information
about current research and suggests ways research can be applied in
the classroom. The writers for FOCUS ON BASICS are practitioners,
researchers, policy makers, and staff development specialists active
in the field of Adult Basic Education. FOCUS ON BASICS can be
downloaded free of charge from the NCSALL web site. Our address is
http://hugse1.harvard.edu/~ncsall.

NCSALL is pleased to announce that we have launched an electronic
discussion list to provide a forum for discussion about articles
published in FOCUS ON BASICS. Authors have agreed to sign on and
respond to questions about their work, and to engage in general
discussion. The discussion list is very much a work in progress: your
input will help shape it.

To subscribe, go to the LINCS homepage at http://www.nifl.gov.
Choose "Literacy Forums and Listservs" and follow the instructions.
Or, send an e-mail message to LISTPROC at LITERACY.NIFL.GOV with the
following request in the body of the message:

SUBSCRIBE NIFL-FOBasics firstname lastname

Substitute your first and last names spelled exactly as you would
like them to appear. For example, Sue Smith would type:

SUBSCRIBE NIFL-FOBasics Sue Smith

There should be no other text in the message. Give it a couple of
minutes to respond. You should receive a return mail message welcoming
you to NIFL-FOBasics. The manager of this list is Barbara Garner,
editor of FOCUS ON BASICS. She can be reached at
Barbara_Garner at WorldEd.org.
Please DO NOT send subscription requests to this address.

We hope you'll join us!
