For me, adult education is about expanded access to opportunity, the
internationally acknowledged right of every human being to education
regardless of race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, immigration
status. Although my adult education colleagues are busy working to get
education funding approved, I think this is equally important to us as
educators. How can our students have hope for themselves and their families
if such an important avenue for making higher education available to people of
color is closed? Speaking as someone who came of age when City University,
now going through its own process of restricting access, was free, I feel it
is vitally important for everyone to have choices and chances to reach their
highest potential. Please take time to read and act on this information.
