Dear David,
My question to Andy is this--
With the impact of welfare reform and the current emphasis on literacy
"training" (as opposed to literacy "education"), for jobs, jobs, jobs; does
the NIFL differentiate between what roles would best be served by training or
education? (In the context of Equipped for the Future, the worker vs. family
or community learning) If so, how? What would be the differences in the kinds
and types of professional development offered for staff to prepare individuals
for 2 very different approaches, philosophies of attaining competence in
these different literacy roles? Thank you for your thoughts on this question
which has been puzzling some of us for some time.
