Dear NLA Listserve Readers:

I am working with a team of writers around the state of Florida to
develop a workforce readiness curriculum to be used in a variety of
contexts around the State of Florida with adult basic education
intermediate-level learners. I am interested in connecting with NLA
readers in two areas:

First, I would like to find samples of employability content standards
that have been developed for adult basic education in other states. I am
not talking about program quality standards but rather curriculum
content competencies/benchmarks/standards. If you have insights into how
they were developed, that would be even better.

Second, if any of you know my previous work, you know I have a strong
commitment to participatory education. Our writing team is making a real
effort to create a workplace readiness curriculum that has the potential
to empower those who participate in it. We are attempting to weave
problem-posing, cooperative learning, reflective writing and Florida
Facts (economic literacy)into each unit. I would be pleased to share
ideas and information about our process with any of you who have an
interest.

Thanks. (If I get a lot of responses, I'll summarize them for NLA and
report back to you all.)
