NLA List Evaluation

NLA Colleagues,

Each year in January or February I ask NLA list subscribers to evaluate
the list so that I can improve it. I am interested in what you have to
say about the NLA, and I use the evaluation reponses to make changes
in listserv policy.

This week I will be posting two more messages about this. The
next one will include the NLA policies, revised after last year's
evaluation. Then I'll post a short, online questionnaire. I hope you
will review the policies and then email me your completed questionnaire.

But first, some basic information about the NLA list:

The purposes of the National Literacy Advocacy (NLA) list are: 1) to be a
forum for discussion of adult literacy public policy issues; 2) to
provide a way for adult literacy practioners and adult learners to build a
national advocacy community for adult literacy/basic education/English for
Speakers of Other Languages, and 3) to provide subscribers with up-to-date
public policy information with which they can act on issues which are
important to them. Although it was not an original intention, I think the
NLA list also gives many people a good introduction to the field, and
provides literacy workers, adult learners and others, with a way to get
perspectives from other areas of the country, and to hear from those who
do research.

I hope that this is enabling us together to build a more informed, more
effective community of adult literacy advocacy, and ultimately to improve
the practice of adult literacy education.

The NLA list is a volunteer effort. It is paid for and moderated by
David J. Rosen, not by any organization.
