Many of you will recall the National Forum on Adult Literacy which was
conducted by the US Department of Education, OVAE, at the same time as
International Literacy Day.  LiteracyLink hopes to post the results of the
forum when they become available. Until then, I thought many of you,
particularly the adult learners who participate on the NLA list, would like
to electronically "meet" the adult learners who participated in the Forum.
All those who gave permission have their photo and biography posted on the
Web site for International Literacy Day.  Their life stories are exciting
and motivating. I think they can be an inspiration to other adult learners
and informational for those who question what good adult ed does. You can
access their stories by going to the Web site at www.pbs.org/literacy
(click on "Celebrate Literacy Month" and then "The Official Event".  You'll
see a map and can click on the learner's state or click on the "text-only
directory".
