NLA Discussion:The newest on metaphors

I'm finding this thread about metaphors so deeply and widely 
useful--probably one of the most fecund discussions we could have about 
policy, because it's on a "meta" level and backs up the notion that every 
policy, no matter its protestations of neutrality, is grounded in an 
ideology.  Hope it continues and can be a lens through which we read 
issues that come up in the future.

Just one question:  I read Dale Cyphert's note about "decent" vs. 
"indecent" jobs as very much in quotation marks, i.e. an *ironic* 
statement of dominant perception rather than his own point of view.  This 
reading fits a lot better with other posts he's made than the idea that 
suddenly he would be advocating assembly-line lives for everyone...  Dale, 
could you clear this up?
