Hello!
Aren't you so glad that the proposal writing is over? How about de-stressing at NESABES by learning stress management strategies to help you and your learners prepare for your next steps?
Managing Stress to Improve Learning:
Don't miss this opportunity to bring peace, art, and fun to your students and your practice! This workshop will provide participants with highlights from Managing Stress to Improve Learning, a two-year pilot project sponsored by World Education. The Managing Stress to Improve Learning project, directed by Lenore Balliro<mailto:lballiro at worlded.org>, is designed help adult learners deal with chronic stress and other psychological barriers to learning and classroom attendance by promoting mental health through creative expression. The project draws from a variety of disciplines, such as mind/body practices, music, movement, visual arts/crafts, creative writing, and drama.
During this three-hour session, Lenore and project teacher, Jeri Bayer, will provide background information about the effects of chronic stress and trauma on the brain and learning. Participants will engage in some experiential activities they can adapt to the classroom, including mind-body practices and expressive arts. Facilitators will include strategies for helping with math anxiety. Because one of our strong goals is to influence change on a program level, participants who register in pairs- one counselor and one teacher or administrator- will be given preference for attending. Registration is limited to 20 participants.
Presenters: Lenore Balliro, Director of the Managing Stress Project at World Education
Jeri Bayer, Teacher in the Managing Stress Project.
