Job Description:
PART-TIME WORKPLACE ESOL INSTRUCTORS: (Lawrence) 6 – 12 hours per week (includes prep and planning time); Monday/Wednesday 7:00 – 9:00 AM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM.
Classes will also include some basic math. Develop and implement contextualized lesson plans that are relevant to the work environment, union matters and life skills. Instructors report to the Project Manager.
Responsibilities include:
• Instructional hours and prep and planning time (6 - 12 hours/week);
• Instructors (new to the field in MA) will need to attend 15 hours of New Staff Orientation training;
• Participation in planning, staff meetings, professional and staff development, field trips may be required;
• Assist Project Manager with intake, assessment and follow-up of students.
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Education or related field preferred. Experience teaching ESOL to adults in a workplace setting and familiarity with Workplace ESOL (including reading, writing and verbal language) required. Must be able to integrate technology with traditional teaching methods and integrate computer-based instruction application with lessons. Must have basic skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and the Internet. Position requires sensitivity to adult learners including immigrants and adults who are not proficient in English. Must be motivated, proactive, organized, and thoughtful about teaching practice. High energy level is helpful. Willingness to work as part of a team, sense of humor, open-mindedness, and scheduling flexibility is essential.
Additional Information:
Salary: $25.00/hr, No fringe benefits
