(MCCC-PT) Special Programs Coordinator(SABES Math)
Job Description:
Providing math staff and program development services for Adult Basic Education (ABE) programs.
DUTIES:
1. Designs and conducts ABE professional development activities with a focus on math.
2. Responds to requests for math and general technical assistance from ABE programs.
3. Works on ABE professional development math initiative, both in Western Massachusetts and statewide.
4. Collaborates with statewide SABES colleagues and the MA DESE on math (and general) professional development including: needs assessment, research, evaluation, materials development, delivery of activities, recruiting of participants.
5. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Math, Education, or closely related field; two years experience and/or training that includes adult basic education instruction, curriculum/workshop design, and math instruction or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; ability to travel throughout Western Massachusetts and statewide; and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree; five years experience in ABE; knowledge of Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education policies and procedures as they relate to ABE; knowledge of and experience with the Massachusetts ABE Math Curriculum Frameworks; experience with math teaching and curriculum development in an ABE context.
COMPENSATION: Part-time - $27,564-$33,627.59 (22.5 hour per week), plus State benefits
STARTING DATE: November, 2011
FUNDING SOURCE: Grant (funding till June 30, 2014)
