Dear Colleagues,
Whether an adult learner's "next step" goal beyond their ABE/ESOL class is attaining a credential, getting or advancing in a job, gaining additional job training or going on to college, ABE Programs can play a major role in supporting them and teaching them the skills they need to take positive next steps.
At the NE SABES' Next Steps workshop on 2/27/09 you will learn how to design and integrate next steps topics into your ABE or ESOL curriculum to support learner's transitions to higher education, skills training, or employment. This will include reading/writing and college preparation activities as well as how to integrate workplace-related topics into your curriculum. You will also learn about some unique and effective methods and lessons that can be used in the ABE/ESOL program to facilitate Next Steps transitions for learners, such as: core skills for successful transition to college; integrating workplace issues into the classroom; and college success skills for adult learners.
