Dear Student Leaders and Leadership Facilitators,

Attached you will find the notes from our last Northeast Regional
Student Leadership Team Meeting, which was held in November. If you
were there, you know we had a great time, and we shared a lot about
ourselves, our leadership projects, and we explored what leadership
means to each of us. If you were not at the meeting, take a look at the
notes and you might just feel like you were there.

Well, we have another great meeting planned for you and we hope you
won't miss it. Join us at Northeast SABES on February 6th from 9am to
12pm on Franklin Street in Lawrence to explore conflict resolution. All
the information you need is pasted below. Come prepared for the most
fun you've probably ever had thinking about conflict and how to resolve
it. All Practitioners, student leaders, and student teams are welcome!

What's the Problem? Understanding Conflict Resolution

Overview

Come to the next Northeast Regional Student Leadership Meeting and learn
how to make conflict resolution a positive, educational, and even fun
experience! We will use activities developed by the student H.E.A.L.T.H.
Team of the Greenfield Literacy Project to explore sources of conflict,
how to identify the actual conflict, and how to resolve conflict through
role-play and drama. Anyone interested in student leadership is welcome
to attend. Student leadership teams, student advisors, and student
council members are especially encouraged to attend.

Details

There's no doubt about it, when you decide to become a leader- in your
home, at your job, in your school, or in your community- you will face
conflict. Conflict is not good or bad. Conflict is about differences
between people and it is a normal part of life when working and living
with other people. Conflict can be an internal as well as an
interpersonal event- but conflict does not have to be a negative
experience. This session will focus on helping student leaders resolve
conflicts in their student leadership teams, their programs and in their
communities.
