[Nesabes] NE SABES Promising Practices Forum

Dear ABE/ESOL Colleagues,

 

We are very excited about the upcoming Northeast Promising Practices
Forum being hosted by Northeast SABES, on Thursday, May 29, 2008 from
4:30 PM to 8:30 PM at NECC-Lawrence Campus (dinner will be provided).   

 

We are also very honored to have some outstanding ABE/ESOL practitioners
who will be presenting eight different 80-minute workshops, based on
promising practices they use in their classrooms, in two separate
sessions.   The challenge for you will be trying to decide which
workshops to attend from the excellent offerings! 

 

The agenda for the evening will be as follows:

4:30-5:00 Registration check-in and refreshments

5:00-6:20 Session A Workshops

6:30-7:00 Dinner

7:10-8:30 Session B Workshops

 

Attached above is a more detailed description of the following
workshops:

*	Connecting Hands-On Science to the Frameworks (Christina Cronin

*	Hands-On Math Strategies for the Adult Learner (Jamie Becotte
and Patricia Hebert)
*	Simplifying ESOL Lesson Planning (Debbie Francoeur and Gerry
McSwiggin)
*	Citizenship--Incorporating the Interview Into Your Curriculum
(Martha Rzepala)
*	Math Activities and Highlights from the T2T Workshops (Christina
Cronin and Barbara Goodridge)
*	The Making of an American--Integrating ESOL and Civics Through
Film (Nancy Coffey)
*	Election Year Lessons in Civics ( Karen Sheridan)
*	There Will Be Reading (Dan Schauben-Fuerst)

There are 2 steps to register for this forum.  

 

1.	First, please register for the forum at the NE SABES web

2.	Second, because there will be limited space in each workshop,
you will need select your first and second choices for Session A and
Session B workshops using Survey Monkey.  Please click on the link below
and complete the short survey.  If you can not get to the survey by

into your browser.
