CHANGE AGENT EDITOR AND PRODUCTION COORDINATOR

The New England Literacy Resource Center at World Education is looking
for a part-time Editor/Production Coordinator for its Change Agent
publication. The Change Agent is a biannual, theme-based journal
published since 1995. Its mission is to inspire and enable adult
educators and learners to make civic participation and social justice
part of their teaching and learning and thereby help people become
informed and active members of their local and global communities.  See

Education, Inc.  whose mission is to improve the lives of the
educationally disadvantaged through economic and social development

Responsibilities:
24 hours a week; .6 FTE
Recruit editorial board members for each issue in collaboration with
NELRC Director.
Plan and facilitate two editorial board meetings for each issue.

* Co-facilitate practitioner working group meetings for selected issues.
* Maintain communication with editorial board members - mail updates,
minutes, reminders.
* Solicit articles from adult educators, adult learners, and others, and
work with them on revisions.
* Oversee the editing process; edit some articles and work closely with
co-editor.
* Do background research for articles and learning activities.
* Write or adapt articles and learning activities. 
* Identify potential reprints and illustrations with help from the
editorial board members. 
* Secure permissions for reprints. 
* 32 hours a week, .8 FTE, above responsibilities plus
* Coordinate the implementation of The Change Agent marketing plan.
* Do the layout of the paper.
* Document four promising practices per year for the College Transition
Project.
* We will consider applicants who are interested in either a .6FTE or .8
FTE position.

Qualifications
* Excellent and documented writing and editing skills
* Ability to research and write articles at a readability level
appropriate for the target audience
* Follow through, attention to details, and ability to meet deadlines
* Adept at facilitating meetings and organizing group work
* Experience and interest in adult education and literacy
* Commitment to social justice
* Experience using publication layout software (at .8 FTE); knowledge of
Access preferred

Compensation: $53,000 - $58,000 prorated and based on experience;
excellent benefits, including health insurance at .8 FTE.
