Attached please find the announcement of the rescheduled ABE Foundations
math workshop which was developed and will be delivered by Barbara
Goodridge.

 

It All Adds Up!"~ Effective Practices for Teaching GED and Pre-GED Math

 

This workshop will engage GED and Pre-GED Math teachers in effective,
creative ways to teach math concepts and problem solving. Participants
will consider ways to organize and prioritize math lesson planning and
math problem solving strategies. You'll learn how to make concrete
connections with the use of some simple manipulatives. 

 

Details: Teaching math to Pre-GED and GED students doesn't have to be -
nor should it be - a "drill and kill" venture! In this hands-on
workshop, ABE teachers will explore effective planning strategies for
teaching math, and will address the question of what they should be
spending class time on. Strategies and activities for teaching specific
math skills, using manipulatives, problem solving strategies, and
practical applications of mathematical operations will be presented.
Participants will have an opportunity to explore one program's Math
Curriculum Guide. This workshop is part of the ABE Foundations series.
