Position Opening: P/T Instructors:
Amesbury Adult Learning Center (Amesbury); 8.5 hrs/week.
Includes two evenings/week.
NECC Lawrence - Asian Center (Lawrence); 8.5 hrs/week.
Includes two evenings/week.
NECC SEIU 888/Family Day Care (Lawrence); 5.25 hrs/week Includes
two evenings/week
Requirements
Demonstrated ability to teach reading, writing, and math to adult
learners or
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL includes reading, writing
and oral language).
Develop and implement lesson plans that are consistent with DOE
Curriculum Frameworks.
Integrate computer-based instruction with traditional teaching methods.
Responsibilities include:
* Instructional hours and common planning time (either 8.5 or 5.25
hours/week depending on program)
* Instructors (new to the field in MA) are required to attend 15
hours of New Teacher Orientation training
* Participation in pre and post planning time, staff meetings,
professional and staff development, field trips.
* Assist Coordinator/Counselor with intake, assessment and
follow-up of students.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Education or related field;
experience teaching adults; basic skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and
the Internet -preferred. Ability to integrate computer-based
instruction application with lessons. Position requires sensitivity to
adult learners including immigrants and adults who are not proficient in
English. Bilingual (English-Spanish) speakers strongly preferred (for
ESOL positions). Must be motivated with high energy level and able to
work as part of a team; sense of humor and some scheduling flexibility.
