Here's information on a one-day seminar that the WE LEARN organization
is putting on here in Boston and that SABES is supporting, which means
that ABE practitioners and students can attend for free. More
information and an application can be found in the attachment at the end

an important professional development opportunity. It is with great
pleasure that that we invite you to participate in the seminar: The

The Impact of Violence on Learning: 

Building Connections to Deepen Understanding

One-day knowledge exchange seminar

Facilitated by Jenny Horsman with Judy Hofer and others

Location: Egan Center, Northeastern University, Boston, MA

Co-Sponsors: WE LEARN (Providence, RI), Spiral Community Resource Group
(Toronto), The Bread and Roses Project (Toronto), and SABES (MA).

The one-day seminar will bring together 60 practitioners and learners
from Canada and the United States who have done tremendous work on this
issue to learn from and to inspire each other. If you are looking for an
opportunity to deepen your understanding, strengthen your resolve, and
find allies in making real changes in programming, then this one-day
seminar is for you.

The seminar is free to practitioners and ABE students from
Massachusetts, though application to attend is required. If you are
interested in pursuing this further please contact ASAP Mev Miller,

After December 15th, the seminar planners will start accepting qualified
