Growing a Green Economy and Green Jobs - How CBOs Can Help

There's a lot buzz about green jobs. Nationally, Green Jobs for All is working hard to envision the creation of a green economy as a way to create pathways out of poverty for low-income, underserved individuals through training in green skills, including installation and maintenance of PV solar, energy efficiency work and green construction.

There is an opportunity for MA community based organizations to participate - through training and also by helping to grow awareness among participants about these growing industries and the reason for their importance at this time (including the importance of decreasing green house gas emissions and reducing dependency on fossil fuels).

Mass Workforce Alliance is in conversation with policy makers and others working to grow this economy and synch the workforce development necessary to support industry growth.

If you or your organization is currently working in these areas or is interested in knowing more about this, please be in touch with Alex Risley Schroeder, the MWA staff person who working on this issue.

You can reach Alex at alex at massworkforcealliance.org.
