GOVERNOR VETOES WORKFORCE COMPETITIVENESS TASK FORCE
Dear Mass Workforce Alliance list serve:
Over the weekend, Governor Romney vetoed parts of the Economic Stimulus Bill. Included among them was one of our top priorities: $11 million for a Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund. This Trust Fund is a new pool of money to support workforce development programs and projects that occur in partnership with other groups/employers etc. As you all know, our state needs every dollar of that $11 million.
We need to get as many calls and letters out as possible to our Representatives and Senators to make sure that they override this veto. This override is the last step in the process and we need your help!
Please call your Senator and Rep and ask them to override the Governor's veto of the $11 million Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund.
If you're not sure who your Rep or Senator is, go to www.wheredoivotema.org.
You can get your legislators phone number by calling the State House switchboard at: (617) 722-2000,
or by going to :
http://www.mass.gov/legis/memmenuh.htm for your Representative, and
http://www.mass.gov/legis/memmenus.htm for your Senator.
Let us know how the phone calls go. We believe there is support for this override, but this is a big bill with many components. Our legislators need to hear that this is important to us and to the people that we work to serve.
All the best,
Deborah Mutschler
