[Mwa] URGENT: MAKE A CALL THURS AM (11/3) TO GET WORKFORCE $ IN THE SENATE STIM BILL

Dear Mass Workforce Alliance Listserv:
Yesterday (November 2), the Senate released their Commonwealth Investment Act -- the Senate version of the House Economic Stimulus Bill. The Senate bill, as written, does not contain the $11 million for the Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund; the House Economic. stimulus bill did contain this funding! 

Senator McGee, the chair of the Committee on Workforce and Labor, has filed an amendment to put in  $11 million in funding for the Workforce Competitive Trust Fund in to the Senate Economic Stimulus Bill that was released today.  The Senate is debating the bill for passage today (Thursday) so please, call your Senator before noon.  

The message is:  

Please support Senator McGee's amendment to the Senate Economic. Stimulus. Bill for an $11m appropriation to the Workforce Competitive Trust Fund.  If you can add a few words about how the money could potentially help the senator's district, all the better.

This is our last chance to address this legislation before it moves to conference committee! Let's ensure that it is the best possible legislation for Massachusetts workers, employers and families.
