Adult Education Day at the “Choosing to Participate” Exhibit

Boston Public Library, Copley Square in Boston

	March 25 and 26, 2008
An Open Invitation to Adult Learners, Teachers, and Programs

The Adult Literacy Resource Institute (ALRI)/Greater Boston SABES
Center, The Change Agent, and Facing History extend this special
invitation to adult learners from programs in the Boston metropolitan
area to attend the “Choosing to Participate” exhibit. On March 25
and 26, adult learners will have the chance to visit the exhibit with
their peers, join a guided tour that is geared towards adults, and
participate in a debriefing with experienced Facing History
facilitators. Following up on the theme of participation, visitors
will have a chance to stop by a table to register to vote and/or to
get information about how to be involved with local community
organizations.
	The Exhibit:

The Choosing to Participate exhibit, developed by Facing History and
Ourselves, has won nationwide praise for encouraging hundreds of
thousands of people of all ages to consider the consequences of their
everyday choices, to discover how “little things are big”—and
for inspiring them to make a difference in their own schools and
communities.
*To complement the exhibit there are ready-to-use resources
online at www.choosingtoparticipate.org/educators [1] including
videos, audio, text, and pre- or post-tour activities and
lessons.
*The March 2008 issue of The Change Agent (titled
“Democracy in Action”) includes many student writings, lessons,
and illustrations related to the theme of choosing to participate.
