[MCAEnews] Adult Literacy Awareness Day March 13, 2008

[The MCAE Advocate]

	The Massachusetts Coalition for Adult Education (MCAE) urges you to
support Adult Literacy Awareness Day at the Massachusetts State House
from 10 am to 1 pm on March 13, 2008. This event is organized by the
Massachusetts Alliance for Adult Literacy (MassAAL), our statewide ABE
student organization.  MCAE is an official endorser of this event and
urges all its members to participate by bringing ABE/ESOL students to
the State House on March 13.  

	This event allows legislators to see the depth and breadth of
support for Adult Basic Education, and gives students the opportunity
to visit the offices of their Representatives and Senators. If you
intend to attend yourself or bring a group, we suggest that you
contact the offices of your Representatives and Senators before March
13 to make an appointment to meet with the legislator or an aide on
that day. While an appointment is often not necessary, it is still a
good idea to make sure that someone from your local district is
available to speak to you and/or your group.  

	Last year we filled Gardiner Auditorium, the largest meeting room in
the State House, to overflowing. Let’s try to do the same this year.


	The flyer for Adult Literacy Awareness Day is attached in both word
and pdf formats.
