For those of you in the Greater Boston Region or any other urban
region of Massachusetts, I would like to invite you to attend The
Metropolitan Area Planning Council's Boston Community Meeting to be
held at United South End Settlements 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Thursday,
December 20. MCAE has agreed to co-sponsor this event, which will be
a discussion about critical issues facing communities throughout Metro
Boston because we believe that one of those key issues is Adult Basic
Education (ABE), which also includes English for Speakers of Other
Languages (ESOL). For more details about this event please look below
or at the attached flyer. I look forward to seeing you Thursday

Dear Community Friend:
You are invited to a discussion about critical issues facing
communities throughout Metro Boston. Our region has great
strengths, but it faces daunting challenges. We must educate a
workforce for the 21st century, make our streets and
neighborhoods safe, and provide housing that families and
seniors can afford. Our city and our region are becoming more
diverse – but segregation and inequality persist.
MetroFuture: Making a Greater Boston Region is the regional plan for
the 101 communities in and around Metro Boston. It seeks to
address these issues and many more.
We hope you can join us on December 20th, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at the
United South End Settlements, to discuss strategies for creating
vibrant communities to be enjoyed for generations to come.
During this meeting, participants will discuss current trends,
MetroFuture’s alternative goals, and offer suggestions for
MetroFuture implementation strategies. Your input will influence
legislative proposals, model bylaws and ordinances, program
guidelines, and recommendations for action by residents, businesses,
and institutions.
Please join us on December 20th to learn more about the MetroFuture
plan, and to generate ideas to make it a reality. Please contact Brad
Stoler at (617) 451-2770 ext. 2048 or at bstoler at mapc.org [4] with
questions or for more information or visit www.metrofuture.org
[5].
Your participation is an invaluable part of our success!

Executive Director
About MetroFuture
Thousands of people and organizations have participated
in MetroFuture's work to date, sharing their visions for the
future, reviewing what the future will look like if current
trends continue, and evaluating alternative paths we could take. The
result is a blueprint for the future that the people who live and work
in Metro Boston want to attain by the year 2030. On May 1,
2007, MetroFuture's Recommended Plan for a Greater Boston Region was
ratified at a Boston College Citizen Seminar, entitled, "This
Way to a Greater Boston Region." By following this new
roadmap, we can embrace and achieve a more sustainable future
for the entire region.
About MAPC
The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) is the regional
planning agency serving the people who live and work in the 101 cities
and towns of greater Boston. It promotes inter-local
cooperation and smart growth through a variety of activities,
including cross-regional conversations, technical assistance to
municipalities, and through the creation and implementation of a
comprehensive regional plan which, in its current iteration, is called
MetroFuture: Making a Greater Boston Region.
