I wanted to update you on all changes in the Network 2006 Conference since the program booklets were printed. All these updates are also on our home page http://www.mcae.net.

Online registration has been extended through October 24.

State Senator STEVEN C. PANAGIOTAKOS is coming to Network! He will be on the panel of legislators for The Legislators Tale of Advocacy, N1.

The Immigrant Learning Center Theatre Group's presentation, Educating Adults through Audience Participation, was incorrectly put on the workshop grid in M4/5 instead of M5/6. Whether you saw or heard about their delightful presentation at the Directors' Conference in Falmouth, you should see their innovative work.

Workshop D4, Students Create Resume Content, has been cancelled.

Googling to the Max, presented by Patty Ball has been rescheduled to a new day and time. The new day and time is Thursday, October 26 at 8:45 am. The new workshop code for this workshop is H-4.

The program booklet has the wrong description for workshop G-5. The correct description is:
A 1920 Silent Film in the ESOL Classroom
Presenters: Karan Sheldon, co-founder Northeast Historic Film, Nancy Coffey, curriculum coordinator, Operation Bootstrap

The Making of an American was made by the state of Connecticut in 1920 to encourage immigrants to attend English classes. The14 minute film is about an Italian immigrant who arrives in America unable to speak English. Following misfortunes, he takes language classes and ascends the ladder of success. Karan will introduce the film and its history. Nancy will share activities she has used with the film, which was a smash hit in ESOL classes. DVD copies of the film will be available for sale. A copy will also be donated to the ALRI library.

Joe Hennessey's correct title at Berkshire Community College is Coordinator of Adult Basic Education Transitions. He will be presenting workshop G-4, ABE to College Transitions in the ABE
Classroom. He is not a presenter of workshop G-6.

Workshop C-6, Young Adults in the ABE System, has been cancelled.

For Workshop C-2/3, Teaching Literacy to Adult Learners, the presenter is Debbie Jones.

For Workshop D-3, Workplace Education Yields Demonstrable Benefits, the presenter is Brooke Toomey.
