MCAE is a member of the Massachusetts Workforce Alliance (MWA) which unites state and community coalitions to advance sensible workforce development policies that create true economic opportunity for low-income people.
The MWA is launching a new initiative, the Working to Succeed Project. Details are below. I have also attached a more attractive formatted version of their announcement.

Dear Colleague,
We would like to invite your program to take advantage of an exciting offer, the opportunity to be guaranteed participation in Massachusetts Workforce Alliances Working to Succeed project. The project is seeking grant funding now and is awaiting responses from two foundations.
Working to Succeed will select a limited number of successful current clients and students, as well as graduates, from job skills training or adult education programs across the state. It will provide them with training as public speakers so they will be able to do public presentations about how their program has helped them to be successful learners and employees. Each participant will receive 10 hours of training (for which they will be compensated at $15 an hour), and will learn to write and speak publicly about their employment and education situation upon enrollment compared with their situation today. Their stories will be published in an attractive volume which will be distributed to state legislators and other policy makers. They will also do several public presentations, at the State House and elsewhere.
We want to show funders that this project is important for programs, clients, and the field. We also want to know what priority this is for our members. This is an opportunity to indicate your level of interest in this project.
If you want to have two of your clients/students or graduates participate in this training, conditional upon grant funding, we will guarantee your organization two slots, as space provides. Benefits to your program will include either copies or electronic access to the publication of the graduate stories. In addition, the results of training these participant/graduate speakers will increase your program's visibility and build support for all our programs. In return, we need you to pledge to support this project. If the budget of your organization is under $100,000, we would like a $100 pledge. If it is more than $100,000 a pledge of at least $200 is required. Programs that do not take advantage of this early adopter opportunity will still be considered, but they will not be guaranteed slots.
If you are interested, please contact us by May 26th with your pledge. If you do not wish to pledge, but would be interested in participating if opportunities are available, please let us know that, too. And, of course, contact us if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Deborah Mutschler
Executive Director
