Hi MCAE Public Policy Point People-
ABE organizations across the country have committed to coordinating
a national federal letter campaign. The goal is to get at least 50
student letters sent to every Senator and Representative in the US
Congress by the end of this September (2008). With the Bush
administration on its way out, it is unlikely that the FY 2009 budget
will be acted upon before the November election, so it's a good time
for us to write our letters.
Some of our ABE programs do not meet in the summer, but many do. It
would be great to have summer classes write letters ASAP and academic
calendar classes write theirs in September.
Please let me know if students do write letters and to whom they are
sent. You can go to www.wheredoivotema.com to identify your
legislators and to find their addresses.
And please do not hesitate to contact me with any
questions/comments/etc.
Thanks so much,
Luc
