[Mcaegrassroots] FY09 House Budget

 Hi MCAE Public Policy Point People:
 The House Ways and Means Committee just today released its FY09
proposed budget and has the ABE line item funded at $30,072,458 (we're
currently at $30.1 million). Considering the fact that we were funded
at $30.2 million in FY2000, this is not good news. Level funding for
nine years is tantamount to very serious cuts. The flip side, however,
is that in this dreary economic climate many programs are either being
level funded or cut.
 We are in the process of getting an amendment filed in the next day
or two and will then quickly roll out an advocacy campaign to support
this amendment. Please keep your eyes pealed for an alert so that we
can generate a bunch of calls and right this ship!
