I primarily teach GED students. My students range in age from 16-60+ and bring a life time of experience. Most of them are all native to North Carolina or they are transplants from other states but few if any of them have ever traveled beyond North Carolina - some have never even left Kinston. Some are close to completing, others are just starting their program. Because it's an open enrollment process at my school, I get new students all the time. It's never dull.

I can participate from October - Dec (Christmas Break, new Semester - a lot of the same students returning)
January - May

My students do have access to the web - but not all of them have email addresses. That could probably be arranged however, as I teach in a "lab" environment with 9 computers. Those that don't have an email address could be given one through yahoo, or any other free mail site. That obstacle is easily, (I hope) fixable.

I'd be interested in e-learning, and doing discussions on movies or themes - anything sounds like a great opportunity. I'd like to be partnered with any group. I live in a very rural part of the state and a lot of my students will never get to travel or explore other coutries, and perhaps not even the US. I see this is a way to open their eyes to a world that exists outside of what they often consider a grim reality.

Regards,

Katrina Hinson
