Dear Friends,

We hope that you are well and wish you a wonderful New Year.

We are pushing the New York City Council to endorse the
New York Bill of Rights for Adult Education. This Bill of Rights
is part of a campaign to increase the public's awareness of illiteracy
and to dramatically expand funding for programs and classes.

On Thursday, February 1st, we will be meeting with
Robert Jackson (Chairman of the City Council Education Committee)
on the steps of City Hall to present him with petitions in support of
this Bill of Rights.

We have over 3,000 signatures and are pushing for
15,000. We are attaching the New York Bill of Rights
for Adult Education and the Petition to support the Bill.

We are asking you to get as many signatures as possible
by February 1st and to send them to the address
at the bottom of the petition.

We would also like to invite you to join us on the steps
of City Hall on February 1st at 3:30 PM to show your support
for the Bill of Rights.

We look forward to your support and to our working together.

Sincerely,

for the Students of Adult Literacy United
