[GLC] GLC/SALU Events and Changes

Dear friends,

We hope that you are well.

We wanted to let you know about upcoming events and changes.

On Saturday, November 11th the Grassroots Literacy Coalition and Students of Adult Literacy United
are hosting a 'Leadership Development Training.'   Students and teachers bringing students are welcome!
It will be from 10 AM to 4 PM at Judson Church - near NYU in Manhattan.   (flier attached)
Please encourage students to attend.

On Sunday, November 12th, from 4-6 PM, we will also be sponsoring a 'Bowling for Literacy'
fundraiser at Maple Lanes Bowling Alley in Brooklyn.  The cost is $25 per person and gets you 
two hours of bowling, shoes and a drink - while supporting student organizing in adult education.

We have a new coordinator, who will be working to help us organize, and I'm sure you will be
meeting and speaking with her in the coming months.  Her name is Jamel Walton, a former literacy 
student who is committed to this fight for adult education.  She is amazing and I'm sure will contribute
to our collective efforts.   Pedro Fulgencio is no longer with us, but working on his own projects.

A new issue of 'Literacy Rising', the newsletter of the Grassroots Literacy Coalition and 
Students of Adult Literacy United will be coming out in December.  Please let us know if you
have an article or announcement.
