Hello friends,
Hope that you are well.
On Wednesday, May 11th,
a small committee will be meeting
to discuss the Adult Education Bill of Rights
and plans for legislative action.
Meeting will take place from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM
at LAC (Literacy Assistance Center -
32 Broadway, 11th FL. Manhattan)
Please come, if you are interested
and available.
Questions to be discussed will include:
Should this be a city or state effort? Advantages of each.
Should we focus on City Council/State Legislature?
Should this effort accompany or precede funding legislation?
What should statutory language be?
How is this connected with the advocacy campaign?
How should we communicate effectively with policy makers?
What are initial steps and contacts to be made?
What roles can unions, churches, etc. play?
What allies are needed?
What time frame should we be looking at?
Who should be involved initially?
How do we enlist the support of organizations, programs,
communities, etc?
Help us think through these and other questions.
Be well,
David Greene
