Hello everyone,

We got some excellent feedback from many of you on the draft policy
ideas we shared last week. The CACs, Jane S, the rollout team members,
and I have not yet had a chance to digest all of it yet, and Jane will
be out most of this week. Sooo, we're providing some baseline guidance
on where we all now agree because some of you have trainings coming up
soon.

Let me just start out by stating that these policies are already paying
off in better attendance and punctuality; if we remain consistent,
registrants will understand expectations, abide by them, and eveyone
will be better off. Here we go:

1. If a trainee shows up more than 20 minutes late, she or he is not
to be allowed to attend the training. The trainee in question should be
politely but firmly turned away: e.g., "I'm sorry, but we were told in
no uncertain terms that anyone more than 20 minutes late cannot be
admitted to the training as she or he will not be able to meet the basic
requirements for certification." They should be referred to their
regional CAC.

2. Make it clear as well that everyone is expected to stay until the
end of the training. Also, be VERY clear about lunch and break time
limits. State them twice. Make it clear that if someone seriously
violates any of these limits you have been instructed to ask him or her
to leave the training and to contact the regional CAC.

3. Trainees should have a basic familiarity with computer, keyboard,
and mouse. The CACs will make this clear in written and oral
communications with registrants.

4. Award a certificate to everyone who attends the entire training,
even those who exhibit difficulties. On the signin sheet, or on an
appended note, please explain about anyone who exhibited difficulties so
that the regional CAC can do followup.

5. Many of you mentioned doing on-the-spot remediations and
recommendations--e.g. that a particular trainee do 20 rather than 10
practice administrations. We are grateful for this extra effort.
Please be sure, however, to describe on the signin sheet or in an
appended note what transpired so our CAC can followup if she or he
decides such action is needed.

Thanks again for a rich exchange. We'll put out a fuller, final
version of this policy set when we can discuss your feedback more fully
on our end.

My best,

Carey Reid
