Dear Ms. Brown,
I am writing in the hope that I might solicit your counsel in our
searches for a Director of Policy and a Program Officer for our client,
the Nellie Mae Education Foundation. As the largest public charity
dedicated to improving academic achievement across underserved
communities in New England, the Nellie Mae Education Foundation (the
Foundation) is embarking on a dynamic period of renewed strategic focus
aligning program investments with a refreshed vision.
In brief, The Nellie Mae Education Foundation's Director of Policy will
develop and implement a strategy for connecting the Foundation to the
policy community and key opinion leaders at the state, regional and
local levels. By fostering stronger relationships between the
Foundation and the policy community, the new Director will play a
critical role in expanding the Foundation's impact on systemic education
reform. The Director of Policy will be primarily responsible for
conceiving and articulating a strategy for connecting the Foundation to
the policy community. S/he will forge and sustain relationship with key
external stakeholders in the policy community, translate ideas and
outcomes from the Foundation to the policy community and inform
Foundation staff of policy developments. More information about the

priorities. This important and exciting role will participate in all of
the Foundation's strategic initiatives. S/he will work closely with
program leaders and staff on the design, implementation, budget and
performance of grant relationships within the various program areas. In
addition, the Program Officer will forge and sustain effective working
relationships with grantees and other key external stakeholders while
supporting and working closely
