FW: Ann AllerdtFolks,
Ann was a dear sweet woman. She was the first Coordinator for SABES in the Southeast. She worked diligently to help get SABES off the ground and running. She assisted many programs to improve services for adult learners.
Ann also helped found the Southeast Improvisational Drama Group. She was a dynamic member and actress. The troupe performed and guided learners to ponder important decisions in lives.
Ann will be sorely missed!!!
Most importantly she was my friend!!!!!

To the BCC Community,
It is with deep regret that I announce the passing of Ann Allerdt, former SABES Director and first Adult Literacy Volunteer Coordinator at Bristol Community College.
I met Ann, as many of us did, in the early 1990's when SABES was first formed by the Department of Education as a professional development organization for adult educators. The term SABES was synonymous with Ann Allerdt since Ann was a "one-woman show" who delivered all of the workshops. Her presentation skills were unique and engaging, gleaned in part from her experience as a special needs teacher, but also from an innate sense of empathy that set her apart as a presenter.
Later, when I joined the SABES team, I learned the distinctions between "teaching" and "facilitating" first-hand under Ann's direction. She was a mentor and a friend who thrived on building new relationships and was sustained by keeping promises to everyone she met. My memories of Ann will always be associated with laughter, compassion, fairness and an unrelenting commitment to the work of adult literacy.
Her funeral will be Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 10:00 AM from the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven. Interment will be in Precinct Cemetery, Lakeville. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund 1309 Beacon St., Brookline, MA 02446. For LIGHT A CANDLE, MEMORIAL REGISTRY OR FACILITY DIRECTIONS go to www.hathawayfunerals.com or call (508)994-9471.
Sincerely,
Diane
