October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Some of you may
want to know where you can find resources to use in the classroom. 

I recommend Take on the Challenge by Elizabeth Morrish, Judy Hofer &
Jenny Horsman.  It offers both an analysis of the effects of violence on
learning as well as a practical collection of ideas and activities from
a wide variety of settings, including corrections, ABE, GED, native
language literacy, ESOL, welfare-to-work, and homeless shelter programs.
