Friends,
As you may know, the Literacy Assistance Center in New York City is
looking for a new Executive Director. Here is the official posting for
the position. Please pass it on.
Best,
John Gordon
The Literacy Assistance Center Announces Executive Director Search
The Board of Directors of the Literacy Assistance Center is seeking an
Executive Director to take on the strategic development and
implementation of its programs as well as the institutional expansion
and transformation necessary to meet the changing demands of the fields
of adult and out-of-school youth education in New York City and beyond.
With 30 years of history, the LAC is at a crossroads, simultaneously
critical and exciting. We are seeking a leader who is eager to think
strategically about future directions for the organization and ready to
engage multiple constituencies in assessing the LAC's longstanding roles
in the field of adult literacy education. He or she will be
responsible for articulating the LAC's institutional vision, leading the
development and implementation of a long-range strategic plan, providing
direction and oversight to the LAC's range of literacy-related
professional development programs and services, and overseeing the
management of the organization's day-to-day operations. The Executive
Director, along with the LAC's talented staff, often serves as a bridge
between the needs and aspirations of New York City's adult literacy
provider community and the New York City and New York State offices that
fund and monitor the majority of literacy programs. The Executive
Director also leads the LAC's efforts to increase recognition in the
public eye for the value of adult and youth literacy education.
The Executive Director will report to, and communicate regularly with,
the LAC's Board of Directors, and will work and plan in close
partnership with the Board, staff, funders and a broad range of adult
literacy stakeholders in the private and public sectors.
