[AAACE-NLA] Using cloud computing

I'd like to resolve an age old question about ABE programs and
student/staff computer use and learning. We have a student computer lab
with 27 computers which are used daily by classes of ESOL and GED
students. Every student gets about 2hrs a week of organized computer
time and about an hr. of non-structured time. Some students can get more
computer time. Our workstations are getting older and are in need of
up-grades. This, as you can imagine, gets very costly and new software
purchases have to be considered also. Much, but not all of the student
work involves internet searches and on-line interactive learning sites.

I have been investigating "cloud "computing as a possible solution to
reduce hardware and software costs. I'd like to hear from anyone who has
experience with this technology, specifically as it pertains to
school-based learning.
