[AAACE-NLA] TANF and Adult Education Enrollment

Can anyone point me to any research on the national impact of the TANF program on adult education enrollment and/or retention since it went into effect? I am aware of several papers from back around the middle part of the last decade that indicate that participation in education in general went down among welfare recipients after TANF replaced AFDC back in the 90s, but I'm not aware of research that zeroes in on adult education enrollment/retention specifically.

I'm *not* looking for case studies of programs that have increased the number of TANF recipients enrolled, but whether nationally, overall, participation in adult ed among TANF recipients went up or down.

I apologize ahead of time for cross-posting and/or if this information is easily found, but after poking around a little I could not come up with very much. Happy to share what I find out.

Thanks,

Jeff
