Thanks for responding.
Sheltered Instruction is teaching content effectively to English language
learners while teachers develop the students' language ability. If or when
students are pulled out of classes that teach content, they miss the
foundations. By the time their language skills are deemed proficient enough
that they can return to the general education program, they are struggling
in content. This program is widely used and is sometimes referred to as
SDAIE or specially designed academic instruction in English. Jana
Echevarria's book "Making Content Comprehensible for English Language
Learners" provides excellent information and application ideas. What I was
wondering is if anyone has taught a pre-pre GED program with L2 adults, what
materials they use, and if they use these kinds of lesson plans.
