Advocacy Colleagues,

Here are the 11/8/07 petition numbers ... 141 as of 6:30 PM today.
That's a significant increase, however, it's very far from the
thousands of signatures we will need to have an impact. We need to
increase our efforts.

Pennsylvania (29) has overtaken Massachusetts (25) for the lead.
Arizona's in third place with 13, followed by Maine, New Jersey, and
Anonymous, each with 12.

Others ...
NM = 8
VT = 5
CA, TX & NY = 3 each
MD, MN, NC & VA = 2 each
DC, IL, MI, NH, OH, RI, TN & WA = 1 each

Q. Where do I go to sign the petition?
A. The Web address for the VALUE literacy president candidates
petition is:

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/litpresident

(If the Web address breaks into two lines, don't click it.
Instead, cut and paste (or type) it into your Web browser.

Q. What's the deadline for signing?
A. December 17th

Q. Who's behind this?
A. VALUE -- Voice for Adult Literacy United for Education, the
national adult learner leadership organization, has launched the
petition drive to urge candidates to respond to the Literacy
President group's questions. To learn more about the Literacy
President campaign and its sponsors go to http://litpresident.org

Q. How many signatures do we need?
A. Several thousand to have an impact.

Q. What will happen with the petition?
A. The petition will be delivered two ways:
1. It will be emailed to campaign contacts identified on the
LitPresident.org web site
2. Adult learners in DC will hand deliver it to candidates'
Washington offices and will pose for digital pictures with campaign
staff that VALUE will post.

Any other questions? email them to me or to the AAACE-NLA list.
