We hope you are enjoying your summer. These are a few quick updates we wanted
you to know about -- our next full newsletter will be available in October.

1) Website Survey
WE LEARN plans to update our website in the coming months. In order to make the
WE LEARN website useful to our members and constituents, we would like your
input. This website survey should take less than 10 minutes of your time -- and
you'll have the option of entering a drawing to receive prizes!

2) Save the Dates - WE LEARN 5th Annual Conference
WE LEARN is proud to announce that our 5th Annual (Net)Working Conference on
Women & Literacy will be held Fri-Sat. March 7-8, 2008 at Fordham Univ. at
Lincoln Center in New York City. General theme (to be refined by Conference
Planning Committee): the impacts of race/class/gender (disabilities/sexuality)
as they directly apply to WE LEARN and our work with women in adult
basic/literacy education. The Call for Presenters will be released later in
September. We have not yet decided on whether there will be a pre-conference.
Would you like to be on the conference planning committee? We especially would
like to encourage involvement of attendees of past conferences and ABE students
(student-teacher groups welcomed). We do much of our work via teleconferencing
and email. If you are interested in helping to plan the conference, please
contact Mev Miller ( <mailto:welearn at litwomen.org> welearn at litwomen.org) no
later than Aug. 31.

3) Join the Fun! WE LEARN needs Committee Members....
As a membership organization, WE LEARN's success depends on the participation of
our membership. We would like to add participants to these working committees:
Fundraising
Women's Perspectives - Selection Committee -- Organizing for Issue #3 (Women &
Money) will begin soon!
Annual Conference - Planning Committee
Website/Technology Integration
Curriculum Resources

to learn more about these committees and what is expected.

4) Write for the WE LEARN Fall Newsletter
Do you have something interesting to share? We invite you to send your writing
for us to include in the Fall WE LEARN newsletter: book reviews, new resources
you like, exciting women-centered curriculum or lesson plans, news from your
program, student achievements, research finding or policy brief, event
announcements, or anything you think will interest the members of WE LEARN.
Please send writing via email (attachments ok) and limit to 1200 words (less is
more!). Deadline: September 15, 2007.


5) WE LEARN Celebrates our 5th Anniversary!
Yes, it's true. WE LEARN was incorporated in November of 2002. Watch for 5th
anniversary happenings during the next year.
