Dear Friends and Advocates:

We hope that you will share the following announcement with your
networks.

Thank you in advance!

ProLiteracy is planning a Capitol Hill Day on Nov. 7 in connection
with our upcoming conference in Alexandria, Va. We hope that you
will participate in Hill Day and will encourage your members and
networks to participate either in person or virtually. We want to
create a wave of communication with the Hill on that date to raise
the profile of adult and family literacy with Congress!

To help literacy practitioners to make the most of Capitol Hill Day,
ProLiteracy is offering a new online course specifically designed to
help practitioners get involved in advocacy efforts.

The course will kick-off on September 17th with facilitated
discussions, "guest appearances" by Art Ellison and Marsha Tait, and
resources to download and share. Course materials will help
practitioners to think like a lobbyist, make an appointment with
legislators, create a targeted package to share with legislators, and
communicate effectively with members of Congress and their staff.
They will also learn tips for establishing strong advocacy networks
at home--the flip side of the advocacy coin.

The course will continue after Capitol Hill Day activities with
resources and discussions for successful follow up activities.
Participants will evaluate their Hill Day experiences, create a
follow-up plan, and learn how to become a resource for local
legislators.

For more information, please download the attached course flyer.
Please note that registration will open August 20th and will be
available on a first-come, first-served basis.

We hope you're able to join us for this course, and we look forward
to the good work we will all do together on November 7th.
