[AAACE-NLA] Literacy cuts in Canada

AAACE-NLA Colleagues,

Although the focus of this list is U.S. advocacy  for adult literacy  
education, many of us are aware that our neighbors to the north in  
Canada are reeling from the announcement of huge cuts to adult  
literacy.  I would be interested in hearing from Canadians who may be  
on this list so that we can understand what has happened and why, and  
what is being done to organize a response. Since we in the U.S.  
recently experienced an Administration attempt to cut adult literacy  
federal funding by 2/3, and through effective organizing we succeeded  
in overturning it, some on this list may also have some strategies to  
share.
