David,

For 06-07, Montana will be at level funding. Our legislature convenes in
January and we will be asking for an increase in funding for the next
two years - 07/08 and 08/09.

Subject: [AAACE-NLA] State Funding News: 24 states have reported

News from the States 8/26/06

Summary:

So far, the state funding news is relatively good:

* 15 states have had increases in their state level funding, two with
first-time state funding!
* 9 have had level state funding, and
* Decisions are still in process in two states

Please check the lists below. Has your state reported in? If not, can
you help by finding and sending us the information we need? We want to
know if your state:

* received an increase in state level funding for adult literacy
education for this new fiscal year and, if so, by how much over the
previous year , or * if it was level funded, or * if there was a
decrease in state level funding.

We would also like to know what advocacy strategies were used in your
state and how successful they were.
